Until

I find my best, most authentic work is inspired by experiencing live music. In September 2015, I was so lucky to see one of my favorite bands, Until the Ribbon Breaks for the second time. The show was outside and it poured. It may sound terrible, but it was one of the most beautiful and cleansing moments of my life, one that I have carried with me for the past few months. Those brief moments of purity are something to look back on with happiness as I go through some pretty gnarly emotional growing pains.

And that's what this piece represents: my vulnerability, the fact that deep inside I am delicate and can be broken. I have never been one to voice my emotions, it scares me too much to give that kind of power to someone. What I will never be able to say in words, I can say in paint.
